The Split Level Garden
A small and difficult shaped garden; set on two levels with a very impractical grass area. The clients felt very over looked, they applied for planning permission to increase their side boundary, the bottom trellis was done under permitted rules for planning. They wanted a space they could use all parts of, move around easily and be low maintenance as they travel often and both work long hours.
How the garden looked on survey day; very tired in terms of materials and the grass was very impractical to maintain. The levels were not very practical and whilst couldn't be changed hugely, they could be improved upon. This would make using the garden far easier, and give a choice of areas that the clients could sit in subject to the sun. The view of the new patio; rendered walls soften the look, the paving is chosen to withstand the shady aspect of a lot of this garden. The garden is now just on two tiers, this means far greater space in each tier; the grass has gone. The new bespoke trellis screens create privacy and allow scented climbers to grow up and soften them in time. The raised bed is a nice easy way to grow plants with colour and scent; the clients cats already love them as a place to relax and play.
